Artist Statement

Coalesced Play is an embodied personal platform, contextually rendered in eighty pages of thesis, which explores my conceptual, meditative studio production space, where my art and life collide.  Coalesced Play fuses this self-prescribed practice of meditation and embodiment with my method-based practice. Conceptually, my philosophy is explored as mediation. My studio work pays homage to individualism and maps a direction tied to subject, to support my philosophy and to support my working processes. I create related works so that I can probe the intimation of space, where I address the work through a lens, to unite the phantasmagoria intimate inner world to a textured examination of the outer world. My work is a manifestation of my emotive spirit, a synthesis of color, form and environment (place).

I create to reveal self-knowledge and embodiment that considers time, form, space and water. I examine both a present and historical narrative within my practice to address decisions, and I merge subject with temperament and tonality to inform the work.

These integrated works include fragmentation, memory tied to research, interpersonal relationships, being human, renewal, personal mysteries, desires, intangibles and conclusions, and stretch beyond concreteness of subject. The meditative processes I delve into, illustrative of time, address the semiotic, distilled moment, as metaphor, where art and life collide, and work becomes a cohesive merger between nature, culture, the mind and the body. These works explore reification and support creative renewal, and combines restorative environments with fullness of experience, to mingle with change, independence and restraint (including reliance and contemplation).

These works convey emotive states of color, form and environment (place), where movement and merger play an integral role. Pushing my mediums allow a teasing game of cognition, in the form of a picture, created to allow immediacy of spirit, and considers departures from the expected, that may go beyond representation. Work becomes an intimist view, a coalesced One With Completion, with the creation of each work. Final goals are to engage or evoke intuition of selfhood, suggest reflection and expansion, positivity, from a triadic perspective, and to affirm our power as artist.
